How It Works

Clear support, from first conversation onwards.

Your dietetic care starts with understanding what matters to you, then develops through practical recommendations, review and follow-up where useful.

Nutrition rarely changes in a single appointment. Follow-up consultations create space to review progress, solve problems and refine your approach as real life unfolds.

Your consultation journey

A process designed to move with you.

The first consultation establishes your starting point. Follow-up care allows the plan to develop as you put it into practice.

01

Start

Book your consultation

Choose a suitable appointment through the online booking system. You do not need to know exactly what dietary strategy you need before booking.

02

Understand

Your initial consultation

Edel explores your reason for booking, dietary pattern, health background, lifestyle, previous approaches, concerns and goals.

03

Prioritise

Start with clear next steps

The focus is narrowed to practical priorities so you understand what to work on and why those changes are relevant to you.

04

Review

Return for a follow-up

Follow-up appointments give you an opportunity to review what has happened since your first consultation, identify what is working and discuss anything that has been harder to apply.

05

Refine

Adapt the plan as you progress

Recommendations can be adjusted as your circumstances, confidence, symptoms, training, health priorities or goals develop.

Your first consultation

Start by understanding the whole picture.

The first appointment is about more than being given a list of foods to eat or avoid.

It is an opportunity to understand what has brought you to consultation, how you currently eat, what you have already tried and what needs to be considered clinically.

From there, priorities can be identified without trying to change every part of your diet at once.

Building the picture

Your recommendations begin with your circumstances.

01 Health

Relevant health background, clinical information and the reason you are seeking dietetic support.

02 Current diet

What you currently eat, how your meals tend to work and where you feel the main difficulties are.

03 Lifestyle

Work, travel, family life, training, routines and the practical realities surrounding your food choices.

04 Previous approaches

What you have already tried and what has or has not worked for you in the past.

05 Priorities

The health, symptom, performance or nutrition concerns that matter most to you now.

06 Goals

What you would like to understand, improve or feel more confident managing.

Follow-up consultations

The first plan is the starting point.

What sounds straightforward during a consultation can feel very different once it meets work, family life, travel, symptoms, training or changing motivation.

Follow-up is where those real-life experiences become useful information rather than a reason to abandon the plan.

01 Review progress

Look at what has changed since your previous consultation and recognise what is already working well.

02 Solve barriers

Discuss the parts that have been difficult and find more realistic ways of approaching them.

03 Refine recommendations

Adjust your strategy using what you have learned rather than repeatedly starting again from the beginning.

04 Build confidence

Develop greater confidence making nutrition decisions without depending on rigid rules.

Ongoing care

Support can continue as your needs develop.

There is no assumption that one consultation should solve everything, or that everybody needs the same amount of follow-up. Care can develop according to what remains useful for you.

01

Early review

Return after beginning your recommendations to discuss how they have worked outside the consultation.

02

Ongoing refinement

Continue reviewing your approach where further changes, troubleshooting or progression would be useful.

03

Greater independence

The longer-term aim is to help you understand your nutrition well enough to make informed decisions with increasing confidence.

Private online care

Expert support, wherever you are.

Consultations are delivered privately online, making it easier to access dietetic support without needing to travel to a clinic.

The same format also makes follow-up easier to fit into everyday life, supporting greater continuity as your nutrition plan develops.

Frequently asked

Your care, explained.

If you are unsure whether an initial or follow-up appointment is right for you, you can get in touch before booking.

Ask a question
Do I need to prepare anything before my first consultation?

After booking, you will be asked to complete a short pre-consultation form. This gives Edel some useful background about your health, current diet, main concerns and what you would like support with before you meet.

There is no need to prepare a perfect food diary or work out what you think the solution should be. The consultation is there to explore the detail together. If there is anything particularly relevant that you think would help Edel understand your situation, you can include it in the information you provide before your appointment.

Can I get in touch between appointments?

Absolutely. If a quick question comes up between appointments, or you need clarification on something you have discussed with Edel, you are welcome to get in touch.

Some questions can be answered simply, while others are better explored properly during a follow-up consultation, particularly when they involve reviewing progress, changing recommendations or looking at new concerns in more detail. If that is the case, Edel will let you know.

Why might I book a follow-up appointment?

Follow-up allows you to review how recommendations have worked in practice, discuss barriers, ask further questions and refine your approach using what you have learned since your previous consultation.

How many follow-up appointments will I need?

There is no fixed number that is appropriate for everyone. The value of further follow-up depends on your individual needs, progress and whether there are additional areas that would benefit from review.

What happens if part of the plan is not working?

That is useful information to bring to a follow-up consultation. Recommendations can be reviewed and adapted rather than assuming that the only option is to abandon the approach completely.

Can my priorities change between appointments?

Yes. Nutrition support can develop as your symptoms, health, lifestyle, training or goals change.

Are both initial and follow-up consultations online?

Yes. Consultations are delivered privately online.

Start or continue your care

Take the next step. Then keep building on it.

Whether you are booking for the first time or returning to review your progress, your consultation is built around where you are now and what needs to happen next.
